Rock | Roll by Germane Barnes
Architect-designer Germane Barnes is the winner of the Annual Design Commission. Barnes’ winning installation, Rock | Roll, was designed as a celebration of the BIPOC communities who have shaped Miami’s one-of-a-kind, polyethnic culture, from the city’s foundations to today. Curated by Anava Projects, Rock | Roll marks is conceived as a love letter to the people of Miami, Barnes’ multi-scale installation draws on the vibrant visual language of Miami Carnival. It will be realized across the Design District’s public spaces as well as a special installation at the entrance of the Design Miami/.
